Crown City Supply Chain is a Charlotte-based logistics company specializing in expedited freight transportation, warehousing, and distribution. We provide pallet storage, receiving, cross-docking, inventory support, and local pickup and delivery for manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and businesses that need dependable logistics support. Our goal is to make moving and storing freight simpler through flexible, responsive service.
Frequently asked questions
How are freight estimates calculated?
Your estimate is based on the driving distance from pickup to delivery. Mileage is billed in tiers — $2.75 per mile for the first 100 miles, $2.50 for miles 100–200 and $2.25 beyond 200 — with a $55.00 minimum that covers the first 20 miles. Distances are rounded up to the next whole mile and fuel is included.
What is deadhead mileage?
Deadhead is the one-way distance our vehicle travels from its dispatch point to your pickup address. The first 25 miles are free; miles beyond that are billed at $1.00 per mile. Your instant estimate shows deadhead as its own line item so nothing is hidden.
How much freight can you carry in one trip?
Our cargo van carries up to 3,300 lb for the whole shipment, with 148 inches of usable cargo length, 53.5 inches between the wheel wells and 79 inches of interior height. Multiple pieces are fine as long as the entire shipment fits. If your freight is over these limits, we do not turn it away — we flag it for a manual review and follow up with options.
How is pallet storage billed?
Storage up to 7 days is $15 per pallet. From day 8, storage is $50 per pallet for each 30-day period or part of a period, counted from day 1, and it replaces the $15 short-term rate. Inbound receiving and outbound release are $15 per pallet each, when you need them.
What payment options do you offer?
Once your quote is approved you can choose to pay online by card and save 5% on transportation quotes, or — if you have an approved business account — be invoiced at the regular approved rate. No payment is collected until a quote is approved.
How does business account invoicing work?
Apply for a business account from the quote page or customer portal. After we approve your account, approved quotes can be invoiced to you. Standard terms are Net 30; Due on receipt, Net 15 and Net 45 terms can be arranged per account. Invoices are emailed as PDFs and available in your portal.
